Designed by BIG–Bjarke Ingels Group with Atelier Verticale, CityWave is constructed on the last two plots of the CityLife masterplan, a major new business district in a prestigious area of Milan, within walking distance from the Duomo. Due to the unique character of Singapore’s urbanism – both very dense and verdant – BIG pursued the design challenge as a vertical exploration of tropical urbanism, reinforcing Singapore’s reputation as a garden city. Like a little sister to the Suzhou Museum of Contemporary Art, the Jinji Lake Pavilion seeks to reimagine the future architecture and landscape of the Lake District rooted in the rich heritage of Suzhou's Chinese garden architecture. Shaped by the movement of the water, the surrounding park is designed by BIG Landscape and manages storm surges through sloping terraces, vegetated dunes, and wetland gardens that slow and absorb the flow. BIG has grown globally since 2005, with 60+ buildings in 10+ countries. Our latest transformation is the BIG LEAP: Bjarke Ingels Group of Landscape, Engineering, Architecture, Planning and Products. When invited to design the 2016 Serpentine Pavilion, BIG decided to work with one of the most basic elements of architecture: the brick wall. The building is set to complete in 2026. Since joining BIG in 2008 as Chief Financial Officer, overseeing the development of the organization and its strategic priorities, Sheela has transformed BIG from Bjarke Ingels’ Danish architectural firm into an internationally acclaimed company led by design, community and innovation.
